I created this piece by experimenting with a mix of mediums I usually don’t combine in one piece. I ended up loving what happened because there are such unique moments that occur in this piece.

I asked my fiancé to help name her. I mentioned that she had rough & tough edges yet is soft and feminine. He said to name it ‘Wasna’; which is my mother’s birth name. I love what that represents…something strong yet charming and warm. So, I decided it would be named ‘Mother’ in honor of mothers everywhere.

You, Mother, are bold and jagged and sweet and charming and scarred and a pleasure to have around. I hope that this painting finds a home that it can grace with its presence in that same way.
