Here it is, my second series of works for 2020.
This collection has so many feeeeeel good vibes in each piece!
This new body of works was such a joy for me to make. These pieces surround me with Hope and Tranquility in a time of some pretty
big and hectic changes.
These cool colors and delicate movements can make you feel quite blissful. I’m glad to evoke that!
Now, it is important to note that ‘The Serene Collection’ isn’t just about feeling good and relaxed. It’s about processing what has happened to me, to you, to us. About what has changed in our lives. What is felt more and what is felt less. It’s not about accepting what is as final but about understanding what is – is for now. That, in part, is how our souls can find serenity.
Some my father’s personality has made its way into this series. He’s inspired me throughout my art journey, alive or not, he lives on with me through my artwork. ‘Heart of a Child’ is dedicated to my beloved father.
This piece is inspired by my father’s joyous heart and playful nature. The paint dances around the canvas, the way my father swayed around our home to his favorite 70’s classics (Demis Roussos was a top fav). He brought life to any dull moment. He was a man who saw the worst of things yet encouraged us to see the best parts of life. His heart was filled with excitement for each day. I’ve never seen him discouraged nor afraid – even in his final moments. Even then, he had a Heart of a Child, returning to his Father.
After what happened to me 3 years ago (I share in this post), I started blogging to practice putting things in perspective. 3 years later, I can see where I’ve come from, what I haven’t yet reached, and the possibilities that may come in the next 3 years. Progression is both humbling and inspiring.
I made this beautifully calming piece and thought; Well, If torturing my body leads to painting something that makes me feel alive inside, so be it. I wanted to capture this feeling – to remind myself that, when I take a long break from painting, it is something worth returning to.
This year, just before releasing this collection, I became married. My incredibly supportive husband helped me to understand me that I wouldn’t be facing my fears and challenges alone anymore. After dealing with so much trauma and tragedy, I began to feel safe again. Some of these things came up during our honeymoon…instead of feeling like I ruined the moment, he comforted me and showed me that together, we will be able to handle whatever comes our way. ‘Together, We Will’ is dedicated to the partnership and support I can feel through this beautiful thing called marriage.
‘The Serene Collection‘ – a collection of paintings that truly express the joy and playfulness I fell in love with when I first began my art journey.
Take a piece of Serenity home with you…
I hope you enjoy!
Very beautiful collection! Can’t even say what is my favorite. They all have good and relaxing vibes.
Angela, thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoy these. A relaxing vibe is exactly what I hoped to evoke – especially after the previous collection I released (The Corona Collection).
