I am Loved. I am Supported. I am Strengthened.
I was in my room making a series of paintings to showcase in New York. I began painting with specific intention. I had a goal in mind; to show these pieces to the public. What did I want to put on display for everyone to see? I’ve really only painted for my own well-being for most of my artistic journey. But now, I’m starting these pieces with everyone else in mind. I thought it would be a daunting process as I considered the ideals of strangers and what they may want to see and take home. But, as I began to paint, my heart smiled. These three paintings exuded safety, excitement, and honor from the moment I began the process. Could it be because I’m a girl in love with the idea of being a part of the New York art scene? Quite possibly.
What I am sure of is that these paintings have an essence that I want surrounding always. They remind me that,
I am Loved. I am Supported. I am Strengthened.
‘LOVED’ was the first to be created. She’s soft and vibrant. Just like this painting, to be Loved is to be engulfed in grace and joy. There are moments of overwhelming appreciation for another that runs so deep. Sporadic bursts of excitement add shine and light to a life filled with Love.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God.
– John 4:7
‘SUPPORTED’ followed quickly next. Once I realized how safe it felt to be Loved, I was able to understand how I’ve been Supported throughout my journey. It doesn’t always come easily or show itself in obvious ways. Support comes from God, from me, from my family, from you. You Support me more than you realize. You show up to see my life through art. You share my artistry and sometimes even my pain. Best of all, you support me by taking pieces of my story, my art, into your own space.
…comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.
– 1 Thessalonians 5:14
‘STRENGTHENED’ at last. I am filled up with Love and Support. I have found my voice, my calling, my way of giving back to the world in a meaningful way. It is through translating honest expression into something you can see. Worlds of color and representation of emotions that others can experience. In accepting and sharing our vulnerability, we are Strengthened.
He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.
– Isaiah 40:29
