‘Patience’ & ‘Compassion’

Timing is everything! With Mother’s Day approaching, this one will be extra special for some! Those dearest to my heart are welcoming into the world, a beautiful baby boy named Oliver. I am blessed with the opportunity to share my art with him at the beginning of his life. My hope is that he finds it comforting, intriguing, and inspires him to explore the arts in his own way as he grows.

Being commissioned to make art for babies is one of my favorite reasons to paint! Art can have positive lasting effects and should be involved in all of our lives. What better way to begin this connection with art than from the beginning of life? Surrounding babies with art is so important for developing visual processing and memory skills.

Oliver’s nursery is Ocean-themed and will have original paintings of a sea turtle, his name, and whale over his gray crib.

I call him, ‘Patience’. Sea turtles are known for their patience, endurance, and longevity. They remind us to be present and steady. Oliver, may you learn patience and extend it to others, especially when it is most hard to do so.

He is called, ‘Compassion’. Whales are singing creatures that experience complex emotions. They feel compassion for other animals and defend them when necessary. Oliver, may you show compassion towards others in their time of need.
