There are times in life when you think that you’ve gone through the worst…that you’ve endured things that you will never have to endure again. There are times that you think
“this is the worst and it’s only going to get better from here, I just know it”.
People will even tell you “oh, I can feel it! Only good things are to come…good things will come soon”. They say these things with the best intentions. Sometimes those statements are nothing but lies. Sometimes it even goes against God‘s word. Going through that “worst thing” you think you are at your strongest. That you can take on whatever comes next with ease. That is also a lie.
You will endure things beyond any heartache you’ve ever felt. The pain of the past will feel like a gentle nudge in comparison to the cliff dive you’ll take next. And people won’t know what to say to you because life wasn’t supposed to go this way.
The words of man are ones that are meant to be comforting and uplifting.
But the words of man are lies.Only God’s word is truth. It teaches us to understand the reality of pain and suffering…and to respect it. It also teaches us that hope shall never die as long as Christ lives within you.
There is no greater joy and no greater comfort than knowing that God speaks of our hurt and our sorrow in such high regard. He does not allow us to grieve, and cry, and break in vain. It is all for a purpose, it is all for His glory.
- In all of the “worst” parts of my short life, trusting in Jesus is the only healing medicine for my soul. The more terrifying life becomes, the more powerfully I feel His presence in my life.
So, “my brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” – James 1:2-4
Backstory: I sat for hours searching for inspiration because that yearning to paint crept up on me. I couldn’t find a single connection or muse. The only thing I could think of was this verse. So here it is.
Now a call to action: I ask you as a favor, whether you are a believer or a cynic, grab a bible/download the app/or simply google it. Read the book of James. Just do it…please. It’s short but filled with incredible wisdom which we could all use!
