The triptych ‘Rooted & Rising’ series is a reflection of returning to my art practice with intention and dedication. These abstract florals symbolize the quiet work of planting roots, showing up, nourishing the soil, and trusting the process. Others see the flowers bloom while you see all the love and dedication poured into the garden, the seeds you planted long ago finally showcasing your labor of love.
Others see the art piece, the finished painting, but behind the scenes, there’s a faithful artist uploading pieces until 1 am, finalizing paintings while baby girl sleeps, and praying for continued growth in her creative career.
Balancing family life and administrative responsibilities left me creatively depleted for a time. The longer I stepped away from painting, the more disconnected I felt from myself. I finally that I did not need to create something “precious.” I needed to create something honest.
Going back to the basics, I leaned on my love for fluid abstract paintings, an earth toned watercolor palette and began laying color down on the paper intuitively.
Through layered watercolor washes, loose brush strokes, and lush oil pastel details, this series speaks to commitment, nourishment, and the courage to flourish – again.
